World Clock
Current time in major cities around the world. Updates automatically with Daylight Saving Time adjustments.
Understanding World Time Zones
The world is divided into 24 time zones, each generally spanning 15 degrees of longitude. However, political and practical considerations mean that actual time zone boundaries rarely follow longitude lines precisely.
Time Zone Facts
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time)
UTC is the time standard used worldwide. All time zones are expressed as offsets from UTC, ranging from UTC-12:00 to UTC+14:00.
International Date Line
The International Date Line roughly follows the 180° meridian. Crossing it eastbound subtracts 24 hours (previous day), while westbound adds 24 hours (next day).
Daylight Saving Time
Many countries adjust clocks forward by one hour during summer months to extend evening daylight. Not all regions observe DST, and start/end dates vary.
Half-Hour Offsets
Some regions use half-hour or even quarter-hour offsets from UTC, including India (UTC+5:30), Nepal (UTC+5:45), and parts of Australia.
